Couples Therapy for Demanding Careers

When work takes most of the week, and the relationship gets what’s left.

You’re good at running things. A relationship doesn’t respond to being run.

When one or both of you carries a demanding career, the relationship tends to get scheduled last: late dinners, travel weeks, a phone on the table. The partner holding home and family carries just as much, and often feels the least seen.

This is couples therapy built for that reality: practical about time, and serious about what sits underneath the logistics.

What tends to come up

  • Coming home with nothing left for each other
  • One career quietly setting the terms for both of you
  • Travel, time zones, and the reentry after a trip
  • Resentment about who carries home and family
  • Money and say when incomes are uneven
  • Talking only when something has gone wrong

Working around your schedules

Sessions are fifty minutes, weekly or every other week, in Encino, Studio City, or online across California, Nevada, and Oregon.

When weekly isn’t realistic, a Couples Intensive puts the work into one protected block, in person. Some couples prefer to meet at home through my concierge practice.

Success outside, distance at home

Being very good at work and struggling at home isn’t a contradiction. The same drive that builds a career can leave a partner feeling like one more thing to manage.

The work is making room for the two of you again, on purpose.

For couples who run a lot together: two sittings a year about the two of you, not the calendar. Who carried what, what to keep, and what to change.

Questions

Only one of us has the demanding job. Is this still for us?

Yes. The partner at home is carrying a demanding job too. Both of your weeks matter here.

What if one of us travels for weeks at a time?

We plan around it: online sessions while one of you is away, or an intensive when you’re both in town.

Is it private pay?

Yes. I share fees on our first call.
