Couples Intensives in Los Angeles
A private half-day or full day, focused on the one pattern you keep getting stuck in.
You've had this argument before. Different day, different subject, same ending: one of you pressing, one of you going quiet, both of you sure you weren't heard.
Weekly therapy works on that. But fifty minutes can end right when you reach the part that matters, and then a week goes by. For couples with demanding careers, travel, and very little unscheduled time, that rhythm can be hard to keep.
An intensive is a different shape. One block of protected time, long enough to slow the pattern down, see it clearly, and try something else while I'm in the room.
How it works
Before. I speak with each of you privately, and you each complete a short confidential questionnaire.
The day. A half-day of three hours, or a full day, in my Encino office or online. We map the cycle, work through one live issue slowly, and agree what changes.
After. A written summary within a week, and a follow-up session three to four weeks later.
Who it's for
- Couples who keep having the same fight and want to understand what's underneath it
- Couples approaching a major decision: marriage, a child, a move, a change in career or wealth
- Couples whose schedules make weekly sessions difficult to protect
- Couples already in therapy who feel they have reached a plateau
Privacy and discretion
Intensives are scheduled so that you are the only clients in the office. For couples who need more privacy, I offer intensives in your home or another private setting through my concierge practice, across Los Angeles, Malibu, Calabasas, and Westlake Village.
What it is, and what it isn't
This is concentrated clinical work on one pattern, with a plan for what follows. It isn't a retreat or a workshop, and it won't resolve everything in an afternoon.
It isn't the right format if there is violence or fear in the relationship, or if one of you is in crisis. I speak with you both first, and if weekly therapy or a different kind of support would serve you better, I'll tell you.
Investment
Intensives are private pay, and fees are shared on the consultation call. Extended sessions are rarely reimbursed by insurance.
Begin with a conversation
A complimentary 15-minute call is the first step. We'll talk through what's happening between you and whether an intensive is the right fit.
