Premarital Counseling in Los Angeles
For couples before a wedding, a prenup, or both.
The planning has a timeline. The harder conversations usually don’t.
Venues, guest lists and contracts get scheduled. The questions about money, family, and how the two of you get through a bad week tend to wait until something forces them.
Premarital counseling gives those questions a place before you need one, with someone in the room who can help you both stay in the conversation.
What we talk about
- Money and fairness: earnings, wealth, debt, and who decides
- What a prenup means to each of you, apart from its terms
- Two families: closeness, holidays, traditions, and expectations
- Children, careers, and where you want to live
- How each of you argues, and how you make up afterward
About the prenup
The agreement itself belongs with your attorneys. Here we work on everything around it: how to raise it, what it stirs up in each of you, and how to come out of it still on the same side.
I don’t give legal or financial advice.
How it works
Usually a short series of sessions, weekly or every other week, in my Encino or Studio City office, or online if you both live in California, Nevada, or Oregon.
Not a test
It isn’t a test of whether you should marry. It’s time spent learning how the two of you talk when something matters.
Couples who come in feeling solid often get the most from it, because there’s room to practice before the stakes are high.

We’re not having problems. Is it still worth it?
Yes. This work is easier while things are good, and it gives you something to fall back on later.
Do we need to have a prenup to come?
No. Many couples come for the conversations alone. If a prenup is part of your plans, we make room for it.
Is it private pay?
Yes. We go over fees on the consultation call.
